About
Sophie is a contemporary Feltmaker creating unique garments from Wool and plant fibres using the Nuno felting technique.
Her works reflect her deep love for nature and the sacred. For tradition and innovation.
Inspired by the mood, textures and tones of the landscape, Sophie uses where possible local and British wools along with plant fibres to create her abstract wearable art.
Her work is intuitive and combines her background in fine art painting with her years of living amongst remote indigenous villages where traditional craft and the sacred are kept alive through hand made textiles.
Sophie apprenticed in Switzerland (Ticino) in the 90’s with felt maker Sophie Prieur, and spent many years travelling abroad, connected to India. She has been creating, exhibiting and teaching workshops since.
Sophies work Is a unique reflection of the landscape, bringing new vision to ancient craft, and her passion for sustainability and hand made natural textiles.
